SCHW Show & Sale
For those who haven’t heard the next SCHW Show and Sale is being held on February 24, 2007 from 9 am – 5 pm at New Life Temple Church. There will be more information forthcoming about events, pricing, and more, so stay tuned!
NAME THE SHOW!
The club has decided that “Star City Hot Wheels Show and Sale” is just too big of a mouthful, and doesn’t lend itself to jazzy publicity. Thus, we are inviting all members to help us name the show. If you have any ideas or suggestions please e-mail them to starcityhotwheels@cox.net by December 14. Hopefully, we’ll get lots of good suggestions and will have something spectacular to share.
Sizzlers Races
There will be Sizzler racing at the show in February! We have devised a super secret and super inventive way to race Sizzlers. Like downhill races, the entry fee will be $2. So bring your Sizzlers and be prepared to race.
Changes to Race Rules
As announced in the last newsletter changes were made to the race rules. These changes can be reviewed at the forum and on the website. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns about the changes don’t hesitate to post them on the forum or e-mail starcityhotwheels@cox.net.
Custom Car Contest Special Class
The club has decided that the special class for the Custom Car Contest during the February 24 show will be a Bone Shaker Build Off. As with all our special classes the only restriction is that you must use a Bone Shaker or parts from a Bone Shaker in the custom – otherwise, chop, drop, and channel to your heart’s content. Again, for the Special Class there is no entry fee.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be Thursday, November 30 at 6:30 @ Fred and Mary’s house. If you need directions send an e-mail to starcityhotwheels@cox.net. Immediately following the meeting we will convene at Tim and Amber’s for the weekly car dying extravaganza.
Trade Show
The trade show scheduled for December 2, 2006 has been canceled. We could not confirm a restaurant for this date. Sorry about that. We are now turning our efforts to organizing the larger show in February.
T-Hunt Set Raffle
The club has acquired a Treasure Hunt Set that retailed at $199 from the online Hot Wheels Shop. We will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win this set for $2 a piece beginning today. Drawing will be held on or before the show in February pending the sell of the tickets. This is a fundraiser strictly for the club to help cover the up front costs of the show. Winner will be contacted via phone. Anyone wishing to purchase or sell tickets contact a member or send an email to starcityhotwheels@cox.net.
K-Day Success!
Rumor has it that the K-Mart collector day held last Saturday will be the last. Like all collectors we are sad to see these events go. Many of us have turned this into a family event, where four times a year we share our mania for these toy cars with our friends and family. Nothing beats getting together in K-mart and shooting the breeze with collectors who we only get to see at these events.
We hope that everyone had a successful K-day, and was able to grab everything they wanted and needed including plenty of cars to customize. As always, post cars to trade and all your errors and variations on the forums. We love to see ‘em!
We’d like to extend our thanks to all K-Mart employees and managers who made these events a great success and tons of fun for Hot Wheels Collectors everywhere.
Christmas Custom Car Contest
Like the Halloween Car Contest, Auto Toy Exchange and SCHW will be hosting a Christmas Custom Car Contest. Entries are due Saturday, December 16. The winner will be announced Saturday, December 30 at 3 pm.
