NEW WEBSITE AND DESIGN Star City Hot Wheels has a new home on the web. Our new website can be found at the easier to remember address: http://www.starcityhotwheels.com. The website is sporting a new look as well. If you have problems viewing the website PLEASE join our forums and post. There could still be glitches that I am trying to work out, but I won’t know unless you tell me.
Newsletter Frequency If you haven’t yet done so, please join our forums (click here to go to the registration form) and take the time to let us know how frequently you’d like to receive newsletters by voting in the poll (found here).
August 26 Races at Smith Mountain Lake The club has been asked by the Smith Mountain Lake Real Estate and Redevelopment Association to hold races at their new storefront, located next to Shoprite in Smith Mountain Lake. There will be a small custom show and information session as well. Anyone who would like to participate or help set up/work the event can meet us at Fred’s House at 8:30 am on Saturday morning. You can also meet us between 9 and 9:10 am at the McDonald’s in Vinton (Lake Drive Plaza) where we will stop to get breakfast on the way.
Thanks I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who worked so hard before the show and at the show to make it such a great success. I think that everyone who was there is more than aware of how much work was put into the event. I’d especially like to thank all the friends and family members, who aren’t members of the club and who wouldn’t be involved with Hot Wheels if it weren’t for those crazy people they loved, who got up early on a Saturday morning to cook, provide crowd control, and step in when the rest of us thought we were going to go insane. Special thanks go to the kitchen crew, who provided all that excellent barbeque and baked beans! I’d also like to think Ken and Nina Nozka, Billy “Chew” Harris, Jeff Smith, and Marcus Moore for their hard work and diligence on the custom judging, and Nick (nscon) for all his help running the races.
Next Meeting Our next meeting will be held Friday, Aug 25, 2006 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held at 2504 Avalon Ave (Fred’s House). Anyone interested in attending who has not been to a meeting before should call 293-7800 or e-mail starcityhotwheels@cox.net, so that we can arrange for one of our members to meet you at Richee Freeze on Williamson Rd at 6:15 pm to show you the way to Fred’s House. PLEASE BYOC – Bring Your Own Chair! Also, bring a Hot Wheels casting to the meeting, and we will hold an introductory “seminar” to customizing.
